Cornhole Rules Summary

Objective: Score points by tossing bean bags onto a cornhole board or into its hole.

Gameplay:

• Turns: Two teams alternate tossing one bag at a time (four bags per team per round). Players toss from behind the board’s front edge (foul line).

• Scoring:

  • In the hole: 3 points (bag goes through or is knocked into the hole).

  • On the board: 1 point (bag lands and stays on the board).

  • Cancellation scoring: Only the team with the higher score in a round earns points, equal to the difference (e.g., Team A: 5, Team B: 2 = Team A scores 3 points).

• Rounds: Continue until one team reaches or exceeds 21 points at the end of a round.

Rules:

• Toss underhand; no stepping past the foul line (foul bags are removed, score 0).

• Bags knocked off or into the hole by another bag count accordingly.

• The team that scored last throws first. 

Winning:

• The first team to 21 points at the end of a round wins.
